Considered a gift of the Dreamtime, Kakadu Plum (known locally as Gubinge) is a small flowering fruit found in the Eucalypt open woodlands across Northern Australia, where Aboriginal communities and families have been harvesting and using it as a medicine for millenia. During that time, they have acquired detailed knowledge of the plant's characteristics, growing patterns and uses, thereby weaving it into their traditional knowledge, continuing to nurture the natural environment where Kakadu Plums flourish. With the highest recorded levels of Vitamin C in the world, Gubinge has exceptional antiseptic and antioxidant properties. The Gubinge used in this product is sourced from Mamabulanjin Aboriginal Corporation, first established in 1985 as Broome's first Aboriginal resource centre. It has since developed into a multi-functional support service to Indigenous people in the Kullarri part of the Kimberely. Mamabulanjin's mission statement is to support and encourage Aboriginal identity, self-determination, and self-management through the development of cultural, economic, socio-political and physical projects with a focus on Aboriginal employment and training. The organisation is a part of NAAKPA (Northern Australia Aboriginal Kakadu Plum Alliance) - a consortium of Aboriginal-owned enterprises ethically harvesting and processing Kakadu Plum. NAAKPA was established to protect the interests of Aboriginal enterprises and communities in the Kakadu Plum industry.

The extract of Kakadu Plum fruit is rich in Vitamins C and E, folic acid and carotenoids, which reverse the effects of free radicals and reduce the symptoms of ageing. It also helps in reducing dark circles and the puffiness under the eyes. The high content of Vitamin C present in kakadu plum makes it an effective remedy for the treatment of pimples. it helps in clearing the bacteria responsible for causing pimples, thereby preventing the appearance in future. Mixing kakadu fruit with clay and applying the mixture on your skin, allowing it to remain for about 20 minutes before washing off with water, all the impurities will be flushed away, making your skin clean and providing it an even tone. Using this face mask once in a week helps to prevent pimples, heal blemishes and provides a smoothening effect to the skin.

Hemp is a distinct variety of the Cannabis sativa plant, which can be grown to maximize seed production, or the fiber in the stalk of the plant. Hemp has barely or even no measurable levels of the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid most known for its psychoactive properties. Hemp powder is made from grinding the seeds of the hemp plant, and is subsequently full of essential fats and vitamins. In fact, hemp powder contains all 20 amino acids, including 9 essential. We chose to incorporate hemp powder into this hair treatment since the high concentration of healthy fats  (omega-3, 6 & 9 fatty acids) promotes hair growth. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids also add sheen and luster to the hair. Coupled with containing Vitamin E, hemp is great for soothing and conditioning the scalp.
Hemp seed powder is packed with vitamins and minerals including magnesium, iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin B, D3 and Gamma Linolenic Acid that prevents and combats inflammation. Further, cannabis sativa (hemp) contains potent antibacterial properties and inhibits the buildup of dead skin cells. Due to a powerful array of antioxidants, applying hemp topically prevents your skin from aging, and has been shown to speed up the healing process and prevent tissue damage caused by the environment.

Because hemp products are non-psychoactive, they are a versatile way for you to take advantage of cannabinoids, offering numerous healing properties. Your skin is the largest organ of your body, and it’s also your body’s first line of defence against invasive toxins. The skin acts as a protective layer with the body’s highest density of cannabinoid receptors. Cannabinoid receptors sit on the cell surfaces, including on your scalp, waiting for specific neurotransmitters (such as those found in cannabis) to bind them. Different types of receptors are found in other parts of the body as well, in what is known as your endocannabinoid system (ECS). Once applied, the cannabinoids bind with the CB2 receptors in your skin, promoting a state of homeostasis in your body.

Bentonite Clay, also known as Montmorillonite clay, is formed from volcanic ash which has been trapped for eons, consisting predominantly of smectite minerals. It has been used by humans for thousands of years, mainly to remove impurities on the skin such as oils and toxins. The theory is that bentonite clay absorbs materials by sticking to their molecules and ions, and as the clay is washed off the body, it takes the toxin with it. It also contains other natural minerals such as calcium, magnesium and iron, all of which are said to provide additional benefits. Using a face mask containing bentonite clay is said to help remove impurities from the skin to treat acne and reduce the risk of skin infections. Bentonite presents strong colloidal properties, and it has an extremely clarifying and softening effect on the skin. Applied topically, it can help draw out impurities and excess oil from your pores, thereby rebalancing your complexion.

For centuries, the ancient civilisations of Greece, Rome, and Egypt used green French clay to draw out impurities from the skin and address various conditions. Getting its colour from Iron Oxide and decomposed plant material, green clay is often referred to as sea or marine clay, with quarries often located in ancient sea beds. It is ideal for oily, combination and acne prone skin, with the ability to restore balance. This powerful clay soaks up excess oil that may clog pores and cause imperfections, providing a powerful, deep cleanser that helps to balance skin pH levels. Green clay is known to soothe irritation whilst deeply cleansing the skin. It also stimulates cell regeneration, minimizes the appearance of pores and tightens the skin, leaving you with a glowing toned complexion.
